RESOLUTION NO.  06-18-01-2007

A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A SALES TAX HOLIDAY

IN THE CITY OF ASHLAND, ALABAMA

WHEREAS, on April 17, 2006 the State Legislature passed Act. No.  2006-574 exempting certain “covered items” from county or municipal sales and use tax during the first full weekend of August of each year; and

WHEREAS, this “Sales Tax Holiday” will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Friday August 3, 2007, and ending at twelve midnight on Sunday August 5, 2007; and

WHEREAS, the exempted “covered items” are explained in Rule 810-6-3-.65 entitled Sales Tax Holiday; and

WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Ashland, Alabama wishes to allow anyone purchasing “covered items” in the municipality to partake of these savings; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of Ashland that the City of Ashland, Alabama wishes to participate in the “Sales Tax Holiday” for the year of 2007.
