ASHLAND CITY COUNCIL
PLANNING MEETING
JUNE 4, 2007
The Ashland City Council met for a regular Planning Meeting on June 4, 2007 at 4:15 P.M. with Mayor Pro-Tem Bobbie J. Steed, Council Members Zeola D. Echols, Gail E. Thompson, Rebecca G. Boddie and Mike Beale. Also present was Asst. City Clerk Donna J. Bennett, Maintenance Supervisor Randy Hanners, Police Chief Benny Davis, Code Enforcement Officer Terry Raughton, Fire Chief Randy Mitchell, Bobby Caldwell of Wellborn Cabinets, Inc., Louise Campbell and Dewitt Croley.
Discussion was held on the progress of the Park Grant. It was stated that it was now at a standstill due to the engineer not supplying the City with drawings and Alabama Power Company not putting in underground service. Council Member Thompson stated that she would contact the city engineer concerning the delay.
Mr. Dewitt Croley thanked the Council for their work in trying to beautify the city. A concern of Mr. Croley, and he made it a suggestion, that the next time someone is appointed to the Zoning/Planning Board that he or she is a member of the Historical Society so that this person can help preserve the historical buildings or sites in Ashland. Mr. Croley was thanked for his suggestion.
Mr. Bobby Caldwell of Wellborn Cabinets, Inc. stated that Wellborn Cabinets, Inc. had purchased a fire truck with a ninety-five-foot ladder that he wanted to make available to the City of Ashland Fire Department as needed. Council Member Beale stated that they were appreciative of the gesture and that the City’s insurance carrier would need to be contacted for liability reasons.
Other items were discussed, but no business was conducted at this meeting.
Meeting was adjourned until 5:00 P.M. when the Regular Council meeting would begin.
