ASHLAND CITY COUNCIL

PLANNING MEETING

MAY 21, 2007

      The Ashland City Council met for a regular Planning Meeting on May 21, 2007 at 4:00 P.M. with Mayor Terry Turner, Council Members Zeola D. Echols, Bobbie J. Steed,  Gail E. Thompson, Rebecca G. Boddie and Mike Beale. Also present was City Clerk Charles E. Foster, Asst. City Clerk Donna J. Bennett, Maintenance Supervisor Randy Hanners, Police Chief Benny Davis, Jim Anderson, Mary Smith, Jamie Browning, Karen Meeks, Patty Colburn and Stan Gaither. 

     Discussion was held about the hiring of Kathy Back at $40.00 per hour to plan changes or renovations to the Courthouse Square.  Mr. Jim Anderson and Council Member Mike Beale had spoken with Ms. Back prior to the meeting. Council Member Thompson asked that a meeting be held with the merchants and property owners of businesses on the Courthouse Square prior to hiring anyone to make plans. A meeting has been scheduled to be held following the regularly scheduled council meeting on June 4, 2007 at 6:30 P.M. in the City Hall auditorium.  Asst. City Clerk Bennett was asked to send letters to the merchants/property owners.

     Other items were discussed, but no business was conducted at this meeting.

     Meeting was adjourned until 5:00 P.M. when the Regular Council meeting would begin.
