ASHLAND CITY COUNCIL

PLANNING MEETING

JANUARY 16, 2007

      The Ashland City Council met for a regular Planning Meeting on January 16, 2007 at 4:00 P.M. with Mayor Terry Turner and Council Members Zeola D. Echols, Bobbie J. Steed, Gail E. Thompson, Rebecca G. Boddie and Mike Beale present. Also present were City Clerk Charles E. Foster, Asst. City Clerk Donna Bennett, Code Enforcement Officer Terry Raughton,  Police Chief Benny Davis, Leland Steed, Lester Robinson, Angela Robinson and Austin Luker of the Clay Times Journal.  Attendance record attached.

     General discussions were held on a possible grant for replacing awnings on the square, the opening of bids for the addition at the Senior Center (one bid was received and was approximately $100,000 over the CDBG approved grant.  Council Member Beale stated that he would contact Bill Johnson at ADECA about any additional monies and the Steve Taylor, Architect on the project will discuss or negotiate with the low or only bidder on the project.), a letter from Greg Varner, Attorney concerning former Chief of Police Derrick Forbes and the removal of the old pavilion and bathrooms at Northside park.

     There were no actions taken at the meeting.  Meeting was adjourned until 5:00 P.M. when the Regular Council meeting would begin.
