| The first card is free | |
| Replacement fee for lost or damaged cards are $2.00 (please report lost or stolen cards immediately) | |
| Identification showing current address must be presented when applying for a library card | |
| Cards are issued to residents of Ashland and surrounding areas | |
| Cards must be presented at time of check- out | |
| Library cards must be up-to-date and fine free in order to check out materials and use public access computers | |
| You are responsible for all materials checked out on your card | |
| Please let us know if your phone number or address changes |
Check-out Procedures
| Books and magazines will be checked out for 2 weeks | |
| DVD's will be checked out for 1 week | |
| Overdues are .10 a day per book | |
| Materials may be renewed up to 2 times, as long as they are not on reserve for someone else | |
| Materials may be renewed by phone | |
| Materials may be returned in the book drop (located on the parking lot side of the building) | |
| Books placed in the book drop after closing on the date they are due will be considered overdue | |
| Returning overdue items in the book drop will prevent your overdue amount from increasing (overdues will be posted to your account and may be paid on your next visit to the library) | |
| Items may be placed on reserve. You will be contacted when the item is available |
Rules and Procedures For Internet Use
| You must sign in at the computer for each session, with the date, time and your name. | |
| Access will be granted to patrons who: (1) have an up-to-date fine-free library card and, (2) have read and signed the Acceptable Use Agreement. | |
| Internet use will be limited to 1 hour. (If no one is waiting for Internet access, the user may continue until access is desired by another patron). At that time, present user will be expected to stop. | |
| Printing of material accessed by the Internet will be 25 cents a copy. | |
| Staff will instruct patrons in how to start the Internet browsing program and other basic procedures of our particular Internet system. Staff will assist patrons with searches as time permits but cannot offer extensive personal training. | |
| Only one person may use the Internet at one time, unless a parent is assisting a minor. | |
| CHAT ROOMS, or MUDDS is not permitted. The library’s Internet workstations are intended to be used as research tools and cannot be used for commercial or for-profit ventures. | |
| The following actions will not be permitted when accessing the
Internet at the Ashland City Library: A. Harassing or insulting others via the Internet. B. Downloading of information is prohibited due to computer security issues. C. Using obscene language. D. Damaging computers or computer systems and software. E. Horseplay or rowdiness. F. Leaving computer unattended. | |
| Adults using the Internet must continue to supervise all children accompanying them to the library. | |
| No food or drinks are allowed in the library. | |
| No pre-registration. | |
| The user signing in must be the actual user; you may not use another person’s library card. |
