RESOLUTION

 WHEREAS, the Department of Homeland Security has the authority to award grants under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program;  and

 WHEREAS, the Ashland Fire Department wants to apply for a grant to enhance its capacity to protect lives and property.

 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Ashland as follows:

1.      that the Fire Chief is, hereby, authorized to submit the grant application through the on-line submission process;  and

2.      that the City will provide the local share of 5% of the total project cost.

THIS RESOLUTION IS, HEREBY, ADOPTED by the City Council of Ashland this the  3rd  day of April,  2006.
