Honoring the 2005-2006 Clay County High School Panther Football Team

and Coaches of Ashland on their 2-A Alabama State Championship and recognizing the contributions of the Cheerleaders, Band, Administration, Faculty and the Community for Their Support of the Panthers

WHEREAS, the 2005-2006 Clay County High School Panthers worked diligently and sacrificed their time in order to win 14 games and to only lose 1 game en route to the Super Six in Birmingham to play Southern Choctaw for the title; and

WHEREAS, two hard-fought victories were over the Lineville Aggies in the Clay Bowl and Clay Bowl II; and

WHEREAS, the Panthers allowed only 88 points to opposing teams and had 9 shutouts, 2 of these in the playoffs; and

WHEREAS, the Clay County Panthers dominated the Southern Choctaw Indians in the title game with a 31-0 victory; and

WHEREAS, Franklin Few, serving in the position of wide receiver, safety and punter was named the game’s Most Valuable player; and

WHEREAS, the team roster consisted of Antonio Marbury, Wesley Glenn, Raquel Ward, Franklin Few, Quamaine Simmons, Mark Patterson, Chase Horn, J.D. Williams, Lanell Wilson, Jonathan Thomas, Donovan Gaddis, David Burkhalter, Payton Gilbert, Bobby Robinson, Ross Cotney, Allen Holt, Lucas Whetstone, DeAnthony Adair, Ken Wilson, Jolan Ware, Labrodrick Smith, Michael Mumper, Josh Simmons, Chris Parris, Win Knight, Gavin McNatt, Justin Vinson, Jarvis Woodruff, Chris Gallops, Waylon Mattox, Dee Simmons, Trent Adams, Kaze Creed, Don Triplett, Greg Reynolds, Wes Campbell, Michael Ellis, Matt Campbell, Cody Cline, Cody Hamilton, Jeremy Simmons, Dee Ford, Cody Patterson, Alonzo Taylor, O.B. Ford, Alex Iberra, Justin Sanders, Timmy Smith, Trevor Moore and Daniel Thompson; and

WHEREAS, this honor is to be exhibited with awards of the school’s previous title of 1-A Alabama State Football Champions and four titles of 2-A Alabama State Football Champions; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Ashland, Alabama hereby recognized and commends all parties concerned and offer our congratulations for bringing this great athletic achievement to our city and community.
