REGULAR MEETING
ASHLAND CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 3, 2006
The Ashland City Council met for a regular meeting on January 3, 2006 at 5:00 P.M. in the Ashland City Hall Auditorium with Mayor Terry Turner presiding. Council Members present were Zeola D. Echols, Bobbie J. Steed, Gail E. Thompson and Mike Beale. Also present were City Clerk Charles E. Foster, Assistant City Clerk Donna J. Bennett, Police Chief Derrick Forbes, Maintenance Supervisor Randy Hanners, Code Enforcement Officer Terry Raughton, Asst. Police Chief Chris Mathews, David Hall of Larry Puckett Chevrolet and Christy Thompson of the Clay Times-Journal.
Council Member Rebecca G. Boddie and Fire Chief Randy Mitchell were absent.
Mayor Turner called the meeting to order.
In the absence of Council Member Boddie, Council Member Beale gave the invocation.
Council Member Thompson moved to approve the agenda with an addition of Item No. 2 under New Business - Purchase of police vehicle. A second by Council Members Echols and Steed and all votes were unanimous.
Council Member Steed made a motion to approve the previous meeting minutes. This motion was seconded by Council Member Thompson and all votes were unanimous.
Under informational items, Mayor Turner stated that Doug Waldrup of Jones, Blair, Waldrup & Tucker will meet with parties concerning the drainage problem at the intersection of Floyd Springs Road and AL Hwy 9 (Wellness Center), Wednesday, January 4 at 2:00 P.M.
Under committee reports, Council Member Thompson reported that Council Member Boddie was on her way home from a Doctor’s appointment in Birmingham and that she was scheduled for surgery on the 12th of January. Council Member Thompson asked that everyone remember Council Member Boddie in their prayers.
Under new business, Council Member Thompson moved to approve the bills received since the last meeting in the amount of $8174.56. This motion was seconded by Council member Beale and all votes were unanimous.

Discussion was held on the purchase of a new police car. One car has been ordered to replace one police vehicle that was wrecked, but Police Chief Forbes asked that another vehicle be purchased for his department. At this time, Council Member Beale made a motion to solicit bids for one Chevrolet Tahoe 2WD with a police pursuit package. Bids are to be opened at 5:00 P.M. on January 17, 2006. This motion was seconded by Council Member Echols and all votes were unanimous.
There being no further business, Council Member Beale moved to adjourn. Motion was seconded by Council Member Echols and all votes were unanimous.
